The proliferation of bacteria in humid environments such as bathrooms must be controlled by careful hygiene. However, Gieffe offers solutions that make sanitising our bathrooms even easier.
Our bathrooms with antibacterial tops of different types and with different properties can provide a valid solution to the hygiene problem without neglecting the equally important aesthetic aspect.
In this article we look at two technologically amazing materials that can make all the difference when used in your bathroom:
- Silestone
- Corian®.
Silestone®. From quartz powder a resistant material
Silestone is one of the most interesting materials for antibacterial bathroom tops. It is a synthetic material made from 94% silica sand and quartz and 6% polyester resins. In short, it is an agglomerate of quartz and resin with amazing physical properties. Quartz is one of the hardest materials in nature, which gives Silestone incredible strength. But that's not all! Quartz is a non-porous material and therefore completely nonabsorbent. In addition, Silestone, made of quartz, is processed according to modern technologies that prevent the absorption of liquids. The result is a material that is resistant to all types of liquids as well as to shocks and scratches. A material that is easy to sanitise due to its lack of porosity. The large size of the tops also makes it possible to furnish with the least number of joints to increase the aesthetic and hygienic value.
Added to all these physical characteristics is the high aesthetic value. In fact, Silestone is designed in a wide range of finishes and colours to decorate according to your taste without limitations.
Corian® an antibacterial material
When talking about bathrooms with anti-bacterial tops, it is impossible not to mention Corian. It is a hygienic material certified according to the international hygiene standard DIN EN ISO 846. It is a material with a homogeneous non-porous surface. It consists of one-third acrylic resin and two-thirds natural minerals, including aluminium trihydrate from bauxite. Its non-porous surface is perfect for use in all environments where mould and bacteria can grow. Since it does not absorb dirt, it is easy to clean and sanitise and is therefore recommended for use in healthcare environments such as surgery rooms.
Corian is a durable material that is resistant to scratches and chipping and is also easy to repair. Its fabrication creates products that appear to be made in one piece and any joints are completely invisible.
Its use in our homes is varied but finds its greatest expression in bathroom furniture. A Corian bathroom is easy to sanitise but also aesthetically pleasing because of the different finishes and colours available. From solid colours to stone effects, from bright colours to softer shades, Corian is perfect to satisfy all tastes.
